Impressive landscapes are everywhere in the world, but so many medieval castles flanking steep cliffs, you will not see anywhere else - only on the Middle Rhine. On this route I want to speak in verse, here you can feel the soul of Germany! You will discover Father Rhine with its banks, either picturesquely twined vineyards or sometimes sheer, where old castles are silent on the tops of the rocks, keeping secrets and dramas of national history. Here Heine and Wagner drew their inspiration, creating immortal creations. It is as if Wagnerian leitmotifs and the dangerous song of the treacherous water siren of Lorelei are heard ...
You can visit the Knights Castle of Marxburg, admire the enchanting panorama of the "German Corner" and take a stroll through Rüdesheim - a fun wine capital. These are unique places covered in legends, myths and legends. This journey is not only in Germany, but also in time. Are you ready for the journey with Compass?
Departure in the morning. Departure time depends on the city of departure and is reported when ordering a trip.
Throughout the trip to Rüdesheim you will see more than 20 castles. All this is accompanied by a guide's story about colorful places and the glorious history of each of the castles.
Our journey begins with the territory of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, then smoothly flows into the territory of the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate and ends in Rüdesheim on the Rhine - this is the federal state of Hesse. Germany in its history went through different periods: the Romans, Franks, feudal fragmentation, wars and revolutions, the Napoleonic invasion and the Prussian kings ... And in all centuries, despite all the events, the fleeting Rhine carried its waters, now calming down, then again threatening floods .
The guide will talk about all this and you will have a unique opportunity to visit the medieval castle of Marxburg. You will learn about how people lived in the Middle Ages, what they ate, drank and how they spent holidays and weekdays, even how they planned the sex of the unborn child! You will visit the hall of the knight’s armament, the wine cellar, the castle kitchen and ... the torture chamber.
After visiting Marxburg, we set off for the city of St. Goarshausen in order to continue our journey by ship. You will see the legendary Lorelei rock, fabulous old castles and magnificent panoramas. Also, the objects of your attention will be the Roman military station Oberwesel, the famous castles Katz and Reinfels, the castle on the water Palatinate and the monument to the Prussian Field Marshal Blucher in Kaube.
After our boat trip and a short trip, you will find yourself in the Mecca of the Rhine pilgrims, the wine capital of Germany - Rüdesheim. A sample of wines, grilled pork legs with mashed potatoes and sour cabbage *, a walk along the famous Drozdov Lane - all this awaits you in the fabulous half-timbered town of Rudesheim.
In the evening, return. Arrival time depends on the city of departure.
