The program of our one-day excursion: THE RINELAND MUSEUM UNDER THE OUTDOOR SKY is a real immersion in the medieval life and life of the rural population of the Prussian province of the late 15th century. On an area of 80 hectares, there are 65 historical buildings - peasant half-timbered houses, water and windmills, household rural buildings: a forge, a school, a bakery, a dance hall, a chapel. We will walk through the old village streets from house to house, learning the details of the medieval life of German peasants, and find ourselves in an interesting museum of the history of Rhineland - the Rhine region, which is called the heart of Germany. Among other things, this is the most unusual wax museum in Europe. A fascinating tour awaits you inside, in the museum, characters who made history are recreated in the form of wax figures: Napoleon, Prussian kings, Karl Marx, industrialist Krupp and many others. Where else will you have the opportunity to bring home photographs with the French emperor or author of Capital?
The spa town of BAD MUNTEREYFEL is a paradise in the foothills of the Eifel, which harmoniously blends with the surrounding natural landscape. The thousand-year history of the city keeps legends, myths and legends, which the guide will tell you about, showing the most beautiful facades of half-timbered houses in Central Germany, the old town hall with a unique "pillory". The millennial fortress wall, ancient churches, the ruined castle, Erft crystal river, the fountain with the image of the Lorraine king of Zwentybold, and, of course, cozy cafes and restaurants with typical German cuisine, hearty and tasty - all this is Bad Münstereifel. Just an hour along the beautiful mountain road and we are in the fabulous MONSHAU. This city, lying 110 km from Dusseldorf, as if lost in time. And this is determined by its amazing geographical position. Sandwiched in the narrow Ruhr valley, surrounded by the Eifel mountain ranges, he did not have the opportunity to expand and grow. Monschau is preserved in the form formed in the 17-18 centuries. The old part of the city with its approximately 300 houses, which are under state protection as architectural monuments, attracts lovers of walks, shopping and simply connoisseurs of beauty as a magnet. Half-timbered buildings, sometimes overhanging the river, sometimes built like a bridge over a stream flowing into the river, are the highlight of the city. We go on an excursion, or rather on a romantic walk along the river Ruhr. In the quaintly curving streets and alleys behind the medieval half-timbered facades there are many small galleries and boutiques that attract window displays. Emperor Carl has been here. Russian Tsar Peter III bought here ... After all, the history of the town, as well as many of its sights, are connected with cloth and its history. All the way to Monschau leads to the market square, filled with charming cafes and restaurants, alluring with local delicacies, international cuisine and very affordable prices. Well, and now we go to AACHEN, the city of ancient legends and myths, in which unusual history legends fancifully intertwined with reality. It is as ancient diamond, who's each side from the history of its creation to the traditional national crafts – sparkles with some legend, frightening or amusing... and often connected with hot springs. We will begin our sightseeing tour with the curative sources. From Elisenbrunnen, where Peter I, Catherine the Great, Frederick the Great, Giacomo Casanova drank the Aachen water, to the Circulation of Money Fountain. And further to the Bahkauv (the Stream Calf). Past the Roman Arches to the fountain of Dolls, where all symbols of the city are collected to entertain children and adults. Here is the market square with its character - the Chicken Thief Fountain. On the way to Town Hall Square the oldest construction of Aachen is situated - the Tower Granusturm, built in 788 as a part of the imperial palace of Charles the Great. And at Town Hall Square - the fountain to Karl. And in the heart of the city, an outstanding example of sacral architecture - the Aachen Cathedral (Aachener Dom), which became the first German object included in the list of the World Cultural Heritage of UNESCO. It received this status in 1978. The guide will tell you a lot, and he will even explain, what do curious tourists try to grope in one of the lion's heads, decorating the doors of cathedral, pushing fingers there and enthusiastically exchanging impressions. For a dessert — the tale about gingerbread, which became Aachen truth. In the evening with the feeling of surprise and affection we leave these madly beautiful places to return here sometime again with relatives and friends.
